The Acura brand has always been known for one thing—luxury. Sometimes, however, luxuriousness is the only thing that Acura owners can be proud of. But not with the Acura TL. Along with luxuriousness, the Acura TL combines innovative technology and high performance. Such is greatly exhibited by the various Acura TL parts that the car is equipped with.
The Acura TL was first introduced to the North American market in 1996, replacing the Acura Vigor in Honda's luxury vehicle brand line-up. It was available in two versions: the 2.5 TL which used the 2.5-liter 176 hp 5-cylinder engine of the previous Acura Vigor, and the 3.2 TL which was equipped with a 3.2-liter 200 hp V6 engine from the second-generation Acura Legend. Both versions of the car was sold until 1998, after which it was given a major redesign.
In 1999, the second generation Acura TL was released. Dropping the previous 2.5-liter version, the car was officially called the Acura 3.2 TL. Based on the USDM Honda Accord platform, the car was equipped with a 3.2-liter 225 hp VTEC V6 engine coupled with a 4-speed electronic automatic transmission. The second generation Acura TL was sold unchanged up until the 2003 model year, with only a minor revision on 2000 highlighted by a new front look and the addition of a 5-speed automatic transmission unit.
In 2004, the third generation of the Acura TL was introduced. It was equipped with a 3.2-liter 270 hp V6 engine that is coupled with either a 5-speed automatic transmission with SportShift or a 6-speed manual transmission unit. It was slightly different from the previous generations of the vehicle model, partly because it was based on the latest USDM Honda Accord platform and partly because it was developed and manufactured solely in the U.S. In fact, the vehicle is currently sold only in North America, with plans of exporting the car to Japan and other Acura markets remaining unclear at the moment.
