Chevrolet Brookwood
Before there were
Sport utility vehicles, before there were minivans, there was the
station wagon. They provided a great deal of service for the community
then. They featured everything an SUV and a minivan provides now, they
have the big space for cargo and passengers and they had the power. A
station wagon was provided a full-size body to accommodate the whole
family plus cargo. They have four passenger doors; the fifth door is in
the rear for cargo entry, much like a hatchback. But unlike the
hatchback, a station wagons rear is of the same height as in the front.
The leveled roof provided for more vertical space for big cargo hauls.
The station wagon became popular in the era of trains. Many people
would go to train stations with a whole caboodle of luggage’s and
belongings. Many well-wishers tagged along so the space was really
needed. The Station Wagon became very handy for that reason. As time
went by, more and more families saw the potential of owning a station
wagon and so they bought one for themselves.
Chevrolet saw the potential in that automobile segment so they started
out their own series of station wagons. One of them is one of the more
luxurious in the lineup, the Chevrolet Brookwood. The Chevrolet
Brookwood came out in the middle of the twentieth century and provided
the comfort, sophistication and amenities one could expect then from a
top of the line Chevrolet Station Wagon.
The Chevrolet Brookwood came out with a V8 engine, which provided ample
power for all the hauling it is expected to do. A then-new automatic
transmission was also provided, making it one of the first Chevrolet
station wagons to sport one. A variety of styles and models of the
Chevrolet Brookwood came out as time progressed. There were even two
doors Chevrolet Brookwood that were produced. Now, a good conditioned
and restored Chevrolet Brookwood is considered a classic and many
classic car enthusiasts would like to get their hands on one of them.
