The Chevy ii was a true American compact car that came out in the fall of 1961. It was produced by Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors and was offered in three various levels such as the Chevy II 100, Chevy II 300 and Chevy II 400. The Chevy ii was originally offered in two-door and four-door sedan version, two-door coupe and as station wagon and convertible configuration. These Chevy ii versions are motorized by the 153 CI inline four or the 194 inline six cylinder engine. The said engines are all designed specifically for Chevy ii. The six cylinder engine utilized 7 main bearings, which is an innovative design in that era.

In the 1963 model year, Chevy ii editions came out with minor trim modifications and minor mechanical changes. A performance image was added to the Chevy ii line up with the introduction of Chevy ii Nova Super Sport option. This enticing option offers first-class steering wheel, bucket seats, special trim and wheel covers as well as instrumentation. Chevy ii Nova SS was motorized by the engines offered from 1962. And when it comes to production figure, the Chevrolet Chevy ii sold better than its competitors in the domestic competition in compacts.
