Eagle Premier
When Chrysler
Corporation purchased the American Motors or AMC, it has formed a
division called the Jeep/Eagle Division; this was a short-lived division
that created Eagle, a brand of automobiles that was sold in the United
States from 1987 to 1998. It was named after AMC's Eagle, the last
domestically-designed vehicles from American Motors. Primarily, Eagle
vehicles were marketed by AMC dealers along with Jeep products. Eagle
Automobiles includes several models like the 2000GTX, the Medallion,
the Summit, the Talon and the Eagle Premier.
As Chrysler purchased AMC, it inherited several vehicle designs
from both the AMC and its corporate partner, the Renault. Among such
inheritance was the Eagle Premier; a development of Renault car. The
Premier was sold from the 1988 to 1992 model years. Basically, the
Eagle Premier was a large four-door sedan that was based on the
Renault21 platform; its body designs were based on the Renualt25. The
Premier was also sold as the Dodge Monaco from 1990 to 1992. Premier
model were redesigned by Giorgetto Guigiaro for the Renault; hence,
Design Guigiaro badge with each unit. The badge was removed in the
mid-term freshening of the Premier's designs.
Specifically, the Eagle Premier ran on a 2.5 Liter AMC Inline4 engine
or on a 3.0 Liter PRV V6 engine. It stands on a dimension composed of
192.8 in length, 106 in wheelbase, 70 in width, 58.6 front track, 57.1
rear track, 53.3 height and 2,991 lb- 3,068 lb weight. The Eagle
Premier was available in LX and ES trim models. It was also a vehicle
considered to be more sophisticated than those of Chrysler's other
lineup especially those K-derivatives, considering the Premier's
European roots. When Chrysler decided to end the Premier's production,
the Chrysler LH series were its successor.
