A person craves for a car, a high-performance car that will really
satisfy his needs. Well perhaps, the Ford Fairmont is the vehicle
you’ve all been waiting for. The Fairmont is best described as an
entry-level luxury vehicle with a bundle of amenities. The name Ford
Fairmont has been used for two unrelated models of automobile; one in
Australia and one in the North America. In Australia, they considered
the Fairmont as a large vehicle built by Ford Australia as a more
lavish version of the Falcon. Innovations have been made and up to now,
it remains in production. While in United States, it was just sold
trough 1983. It was introduced in the North American market as an
all-new, rear wheel drive compact car.
The Fairmont was the first vehicle built off the Ford Fox platform and
eventually replaced the Ford Granada which at production was twinned up
with the corresponding Mercury Zephyr. In the beginning, it was offered
as standard coupe, sedan and wagon and later joined slightly by a
specialty coupe known as the Futura. This vehicle is outfitted with the
best amenities, for a superior handling prowess. The suspension is
undeniably great. It allows a huge amount of dynamic weight transfer
that can upset chassis balance and impair driving accuracy through
corners. Plus the fact that it is powered by a 3.3 L inline 6 engine,
you’ll surely have the best driving experience.
Over the years, the Ford Fairmont received good reviews and was doing
well. But then, as average sizes vehicles continued to shrink, Ford
marketers evidently decided the Fairmont needed a supplementary
upmarket image to remain competitive. In 1984, the production of coupes
was discontinued and the sedan and wagon received a facelift and
rebadged as the Ford LTD which was formerly Ford’s full-size car.
