The Ford Fiesta is considered by Ford as one of its most successful vehicle model, spanning six generations and registering more than 10 million vehicle units sold. In fact, Ford has not envisioned an end to the Ford Fiesta, as the company continues to produce the car up to this day. But you may wonder, "If the Ford Fiesta is really that successful and popular, why is it that only a few of us know the car? Why is it that only our old folks and foreigners have something good to say about the vehicle?"

The Ford Fiesta is a mid-class subcompact car manufactured and sold by Ford from 1976 up to the present. The main manufacturing plant for the Ford Fiesta is located in Europe, although the vehicle is also manufactured in Brazil, Mexico, China, India and South Africa. And while the vehicle is still being sold up to this day in these countries, it was only sold briefly in the U.S. during its first generation.

The first generation Ford Fiesta was Ford's first successful front-wheel drive car, and actually the first new car it has manufactured in five years after the Ford Granada. This is the version of the Fiesta that was sold briefly in the U.S., from 1978 to 1980. The Ford Fiesta was Ford\'s entry to the then fast rising compact automobile market, an answer to the 1973 energy crisis that affected the world, most especially the whole of America.

But while the Ford Fiesta ended in the U.S. after 1980, it continued to be sold and produced in the rest of its other markets. In 1983, the model was given a mild facelift to mark its second generation. In 1989, it was given a new body shell, marking its third generation. The fourth generation Ford Fiesta then appeared in 1995 with a whole new look and equipped with improved drive train and power train parts. A minor restyle in 1999 marked its fifth generation and in 2002, the sixth generation Ford Fiesta was unveiled, this time without any trace of what the 1976 original Ford Fiesta looks like.

This has been the Ford Fiesta that a lot of countries except the U.S.A. have cherished for more than 25 years. For us, we better get contented with the first generation of the vehicle that was briefly sold in the U.S. Although old and used, a Ford Fiesta can still showcase an admirable performance. And should you want it to perform a lot better, you can always equip it with high performance aftermarket Ford Fiesta parts.
