Headlamps are mounted in front of a car for a very obvious purpose – that is to provide illumination during low visibility situations. Headlamps are a must for any vehicle, especially when used for night driving. Aside from night time, driving on a rainy weather and foggy atmosphere also need the use of headlamps. Drivers cannot just rely on street lights for there are paths without street lights to guide your driving. Headlamps provide ample warning for the upcoming vehicles to do the necessary precautions while passing another vehicle on the other side.
Headlamps are located at a car’s front to light the road ahead of it and they always come in pair. These headlamps have reflectors and special lenses for a brighter and wider scope of illumination thus reaching a longer distance. Headlamps are usually the sealed beam construction type so that the filament, reflector and lens are fused together into an airtight unit to produce the right amount of light needed. Headlamps such as Ford headlamps come in a number of size, style, design, kind or type, and function variations.
If you happen to experience a headlamp failure while driving at low visibility instances, pull over immediately and look for the nearest auto shop and have it repaired if you find it difficult to fix by yourself. Even if only one headlamp fails to function, don’t bother to continue driving especially when on a busy highway for it always involves high percentage of risk and accidents. It is better yet to wait till morning wherein road visibility is much clearer.
Many car accidents that took place at these low visibility periods have already been recorded and a portion of it are light-related causes. Some may have been driving without headlamps, others with only one headlamp, and others are due to non-observance of safety precautions using the different vehicle lights including headlamps.
