In 1902, Max Grabowski established the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company that
was later known as the GMC Truck or GMC. They produced some of the
first commercial trucks. When the company was sold to General Motors in
1909 and changed the name to General Motors Truck Company from which
GMC Truck was derived, it concentrated in building trucks alone. In
1996, the “Truck” was dropped from the name and become the GMC that we
know today.
As part of the largest automobile corporation, GMC is joined by other
company such as Chevrolet, Buick, Opel, Holden, Pontiac, Oldsmobile,
Cadillac, Saturn, and Saab. Today, GMC product line has expanded from
their concentration on pickup production; they now produce SUVs, vans,
medium-duty truck, and commercial vehicles and produced several popular
models such as Yukon, Envoy, Savana, Safari, Sierra, RTS Transit,
T-series, and Canyon. Such models posses the power with its big engines
and body built with its big body cases that project the real GMC
essence.
