Would you agree with saying that “life is too big for minivan”? Of
course it didn’t mean that only full sized and mid-size vans are worth
producing. GMC Safari used that to refer to Chrysler minivans. So much
so, GM stepped into another level on the industry, building GMC full
size vans.
Before the existence of GMC Savana in 1997, another full size van
was brought in the market under the brand name GMC. It’s the GMC
Vandura. This vehicle existed in the middle of 1970s until 1996. Savana
did not fully replaced Vandura in an instant. They co-existed in
Vandura’s last edition.
The first Savana was a Cargo van that possesses ample space which
is true to every full size van. But at the present generation, GMC
Savana was produced to include three trims, the Savana Passenger,
Savana Cargo, and the Savana Conversion. Each of them was endowed with
unique values that show impressive comfort and versatility.
Savana Passenger van earned five star for the driver and front
passenger crash safty test. This vehicle can carry up to fifteen
people. It is being equipped with powerful Vortec 4300 V6, Vortec 5300
V8 and or Vortec 6000 V8 engine. Cargo trim uses the two V8s for both
2500 and 3500, which are being coupled by either electronically
controlled 4-speed automatic or heavy-duty electronically controlled
4-speed automatic transaxles both with overdrive. The Passenger 1500
has the choice to pick from 4300 V6 and 5300 V8, but the 2500 and 3500
can only have one, the Vortec 6000 V8.
Passenger 3500 model is the very first in its class to offer
StabiliTrak. Savanna Cargo and Savana Conversion both feature
innovative tow/haul mode. Therefore when it comes in towing capacity,
the passenger trim apparently gets lower level with 6700 lbs., the
Cargo can tow 9900 lbs. but the Conversion beats it with 1000. All the
three trims exclusively feature all-wheel drive as well as the
driver-side 60/40 swing-out doors.
