Motorcycles were the first transportation machine from Honda but in 1973, they ventured into the car market with the first Honda Civic. Honda Civic is a small car on the outside but bug on the inside. Four passengers can comfortably seat in whatever position they want. Honda Civic for 1973 has smaller engines mounted under the hood. The hatchback and sedan are the two body trims offered which has identical look and styles but the difference is the small vertical panel on the hatchback which can be used to have access on the car\'s trunk.

The first Honda Civic have lots of features that needs further enhancements like the turn signals that does not seem to go with the over-all design of the vehicle and the bumpy divider on the grille. Standard are dashboard accented with wood grain, bucket seats that can be adjusted to suit the preferred reclining position of the passenger , vinyl seating and a power front disc. An in-line four cylinder power train gives energy to keep the first Honda Civic moving.

In 1978, several exterior changes which include new rear-facing hood vents that take the place of the sideway style, turn signals and black girls were re-installed. Another change is the increase in the produced horsepower. Honda Civic from 1980-1983 comes with bigger wheelbase and power trains. Users at that time can have varied choices of transmission ranging from a four-speed manual for base models, a five-speed manual and a two-speed automatic. Base and DX versions were now offered to provide wider choices. In 1981 the four door sedan was formally introduced in the market together with the new three speed transmission.

Glamorous designs were done for 1984-1987 Honda Civic. Three hatchbacks were made available, a base sedan, DX tall wagon and CRX two-seater. For the 1990's and 2000's bigger Honda Civic were cruising down the highways fully equipped with technological advancements in style, power and driving dynamics.
