Japanese automobile companies have been recognized as strong competitors in the automotive industry. Honda and Acura, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Isuzu are just some of the world class automobile manufacturers that hailed from Japan. Isuzu Motors Ltd. has been known for its high-caliber commercial vehicles and diesel engines. Aside form the commercial vehicles, Isuzu also produced and sold some automobile models that formed part of the auto world and one of which is the Isuzu Oasis.
Basically, the Isuzu Oasis is just a by-product of the Isuzu-Honda joint deal and because of this deal, the said companies agreed to exchange with each other the using and selling of their existing models to which are the Isuzu Rodeo and Honda Odyssey on the condition of giving them a new emblem and identity thus Honda Passport and Isuzu Oasis were born respectively. The Isuzu Oasis is a minivan or people carrier as what others would call it and also considered as s Multi Purpose Vehicle in some European countries. The Isuzu Oasis is higher than normal sedans, compacts and station wagons and are designed to increase interior room, featuring often three rows of seats.
The Oasis was produced and marketed from the 1999 model year up to the 1999 model year and although the Honda Odyssey from which the Oasis came from was redesigned in 1998, Isuzu kept the original body only with slight changes and sold it until 1999. Oasis used Odyssey's same 140-horsepower, 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder engine and the 4-speed automatic transmission. Safety features such as airbags and all-disc anti-lock braking system were standard on the Isuzu Oasis.
