Mercedes Benz vehicles have always been expected to be of premium quality, luxurious and expensive. It has always been the picture of German luxury. But to give their vehicle line-up a little twist, Mercedes Benz created the Mercedes Benz C230, a vehicle that shares all the qualities of a Mercedes Benz vehicle except the price. Actually, the whole Mercedes Benz C-Class line-up of vehicles are low priced, but the C230 is known to be the lowest priced Mercedes Benz vehicle.
The Mercedes Benz C230 is a mid-size vehicle manufactured and sold by Mercedes Benz along with other vehicles under its C-Class line-up—a line-up first introduced in 1993 and continues to be sold up to the present. There are actually two versions of the C230, one version offered for the U.S. market and the other for the European market.
The U.S. version of the Mercedes Benz Kompressor C230 is available in two body styles: a sports coupe and a sports sedan. Both the sports coupe and the sports sedan versions are equipped with a 1.8-liter supercharged 4-cylinder engine rated at 148-hp. The standard transmission for both body styles is a 6-speed manual transmission.
The coupe version of the C230 is priced lower than the sedan version, although at a price level below $30,000, both is considered affordable for a Mercedes Benz vehicle. But such reduced cost comes at a price. From the outside, you cannot mistake the C230 for another brand of car but a Mercedes Benz. But inside, it is devoid of the usual luxury found in the conventional Mercedes Benz vehicle, like leather seats and other interior amenities. These amenities, however, are available as optional equipments and accessories.
Although with the same name, the European Mercedes Benz C230 is an entirely different vehicle. Unlike the U.S. version, the European C230 is equipped with a larger engine—a 2.5-liter V6 engine rated at 204 hp. The transmission, however, is the same 6-speed manual transmission. And since both versions belong to the C-Class line-up, they generally share most of their body parts.
Different vehicles they may be, both the U.S. and the European versions of the Mercedes Benz C230 shares some characteristics—they are both Mercedes Benz and they are both affordable. Also, while they have obvious dissimilarity in some parts, most Mercedes Benz C230 parts are shared by the two versions.
