Since their introduction, Mercury has been a premium brand with products blending performance, comfort, and luxurious appointments. After their first appearance, Mercury designers and engineers never stopped in providing its patrons a new generation of vehicles: stylish convertibles, premium sedans, performance machines, and family cars.
From compact cars to mid-size sedans, minivans to sport utility vehicles, Mercury models of more than thirty names have gone through different phases of advancement not to be lost in the constant revolutionary changes of the auto industry. This aspect have made the Mercury brand name stand out from the rest.
The Mercury coupes for 1939 were considered by designers to be quite avant-garde for the era. For two consecutive years (1949-1951), Mercury coupes became the car of choice for performance tuners and hot-rodders who chopped the tops, removed body trim and filled the resulting holes with lead to create “Lead Sleds” - renowned for their long, low, and smooth look.
For 1985, the aerodynamic Mercury Sable was introduced. It has maintained its goal to offer people the best driving experience, that is why once in a while, the Mercury Sable received enhancements. It was offered to consumers of 4-door sedan and station wagon.
And today, Mercury is still presenting the buying public with a variety of choices of outstanding and elegant vehicles. The Cougar, Comet, Cyclone, Bobcat, Marauder are just some of Mercury's great names. And the Mercury Custom is not an exemption. It has also its characteristics to show off. True enough, Mercury vehicles were born with more than just quality and style, and that is beyond doubt.
