Mercury Montego
We all seem to
dream of having a car; and that is not just a plain, simple car. We
want something that speaks of performance and for us, a performance car
will mean something that is responsive, blasting with power, with
elegant designs and sporty appeals. When it comes to performance car,
there's no need to go through hasty buying and choosing since the
automotive market is just glad to give their buyers wide array of
choices. The many automotive manufacturer in the industry are all
pleased to create and innovate for their buyers; hence, many vehicles
in different makes and models are available in the market every year,
some even offer new models twice every year. Mercury, a brand name of
automobile created by Ford is among the name of those automobiles
parading both display centers and prodding the streets; it includes
models like the Mercury Comet, Mercury Montego, Mercury Bobcat, etc.
Mercury is an automobile marquee that has been to many up and downs
since it was founded by Ford Motor Company in 1939 to market
semi-luxury cars. During its early years in the industry, Mercury was
apprehended as something to have lived up to its name, after the Roman
God, Mercury; it was known for its fast cars. Ford, in 1945, combined
Mercury with Lincoln which marked the Lincoln-Mercury Division; they
were then joined by Edsel to form the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln Division in
1958. When Edsel was totally banished in 1960, the Lincoln-Mercury
Division remained from then on. After some more image sufferings,
Mercury has managed to be stable in the market; providing, until now,
vehicle models with simple yet elegant luxuries and apt performance to
please their buyers.
The Mercury Montego was among the model created by Mercury; it was an
intermediate vehicle in the Mercury line replacing the Comet in 1968.
It was presumed that Mercury named this model from the Montego Bay in
Jamaica for some reasons. This midsize sedan has also garnered praises
with its apt and optimum characteristics. However, it was discontinued
in 1976 and was replaced by Mercury's expanded Cougar line. In 2005,
Mercury has again used the name Montego for their Ford Five Hundred's
2005 version.
