Mercury Mystique
Lots of
automobiles are running around the streets nowadays; some are in those
display centers parading before our eyes; while some are those yet to
roll out of their respective assembly areas. Vehicles seems to be
almost anywhere; you'll see them in different designs, different
appeals and levels of performance. But surely, we need don't just need
those vehicles displays and “show” and something we can brag about; we,
of course, need them as solutions to our transport problems. And since
this is the case, we have to choose vehicles in their best quality
which is the demand of most automobile buyers today and even before. We
all need vehicles that will stand the test of time and will serve as
longer so as to avoid the nuisance of constant repair cost and much
worst buying new unit. But not to worry, automakers know how to please
their target markets as they did an extensive research before starting
on a new project; Mercury is among them. It offers wide variety of
models such as the Colony Park, Mercury Mystique, the Bobcat, the Capri, etc.
Mercury was founded by Ford Motor Company in 1939 to market semi-luxury
cars. It was named after the Roman God, Mercury and its early models
were known to be fast cars. In 1945, it was decided that it joined the
Lincoln division to make the Lincoln-Mercury Division. It was later
joined by Edsel division, making it the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln Division
in 1958. Edsel was demised in 1960, leaving the group and the
Mercury-Lincoln Division remained since. Primarily, Ford Motor Company
created the Mercury Division from scratch; but it gained success
throughout its business years, though it had undergone several ups and
downs. Its first success as a Ford marquee was in the 50's when the
formula of stretching and lowering then existing Ford platforms
generated good results specifically from their target markets.
Among Mercury's well known models is the Mercury Mystique; it is
Mercury's version of Ford's Contour model and the international Ford
Mondeo. Mostly, Mystiques were built in Kansas City in Missouri and
Cuatilitan in Mexico. Introduced in August 15, 1994, the Mystique has
poor customer acceptance making Ford decide to drop the model in the
1999 lineup. Many believed that the Mystique's failure was due to its
size which is too close to the Tracer while the price was too close to
the Sable and people would love to pay for the extra price for the
space and comfort of the Sable. However, the Mystique still garnered
praises and distinctions; it was one of Car and Criver magazine's Ten
Best vehicles from 1995 to 1997.
