Your vehicle’s sensors are among the most important components of your Mitsubishi; a vehicle can’t possibly function properly without them. Basically, these are electronic devices that took the information needed by your Mitsubishi in its vehicle operation. The information obtained by these sensors is being passed along to a computer; such includes the amount of air going into the engine, emission levels, tire slippage and other vehicular functions that needs careful monitoring. Among these sensors are your Mitsubishi oxygen sensors.

The oxygen sensor, also known as O2 sensor, is a part of the emission control system in your vehicle which feeds the data to the engine management computer. Primarily, its main function in the engine system is to help it run as efficiently as it is possible. They are also tasked to help the engine produce as few emissions as possible. Mostly, you can find your Mitsubishi’s oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe; they detect rich and lean mixtures of air and fuel in the engine. As they sense the amount of this mixture, the engine’s computer will adjust the amount of fuel entering the engine accordingly.

Now, it is vital for your Mitsubishi to have durable oxygen sensor since the amount of oxygen that the engine can pull depends on things like altitude, temperature of the air, temperature of the engine, barometric pressure and load of engine; these are needed for proper performance. Once the sensor fails, your engine computer can no longer sense the air/fuel ratio making it will guess the data and make your car engine use more fuel than it needs to.

So it makes sense to always check them for damages; regular tune-up and maintenance will help you here. In case of damaged O2 sensor, replace them or have them repaired. If you’re opting for the first one, there are lots of replacements available in the market. You can get either an OEM Mitsubishi oxygen sensor, aftermarket oxygen sensor, performance replacement oxygen sensor or even used Mitsubishi oxygen sensor.
