When the production of the Oldsmobile, an automobile marque produced in the United States from year 1897 through 2004 was terminated, it became the oldest surviving American automobile brand and one of the oldest in the world following Daimler and Peugeot. The Oldsmobile LSS is categorized as a sports sedan because it was able to showcase the sporty performance of a sports sedan coupled with the affluence of a luxury car. The LSS name was first seen as a trim level or a special package for the Oldsmobile Eighty Eight but in the year 1996, the once trim level or special package became an independent and separate model and became the what-we-know now as the Oldsmobile LSS.
