Pontiac LeMans

At the height of the muscle car era, several car manufacturers aimed to create to most powerful, best performing, and most attractive super car that would surpass and as they say, blew away the competition to dusts. Models such as Chevrolet, Buick, Ford, and Oldsmobile tend to respond to each release of every manufacturer with a muscle car. But there was one automaker that topped them all: Pontiac.

Pontiac is a brand of automobile under the General Motors that sold vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico since it was established in 1926. Pontiac is at the middle range of car, not as luxurious as the Cadillac but not as ordinary as the Toyota. Pontiac has the right combination of power and style but can answer the budged of many.

Pontiac’s most popular model, and the period’s top-seller among all the muscle car released was the Pontiac GTO. This muscle car was by far the best among all muscle cars created. In fact, several other models from different car manufacturers were created because of GTO’s success. During this period specifically in 1963, the Pontiac LeMans was released as an intermediate-sized vehicle and was powered by no less than the 326 cid V8 engine coupled with the two-speed automatic at 250 hp. Shortly after its release, the 400 cid V8, 6.6 L, engine became available to the LeMans.

But due to the downsizing of vehicles at the early 70s, the LeMans along with other muscle car at that time was hardly affected that caused its model to be dropped in the 80s. However, the Pontiac LeMans was replaced by the more beautiful Pontiac Bonneville in 1982. The Bonneville continues to be sold up to 2005.
