Porsche is a German manufacturer of sports cars which is based in Zuffenhausen, a city of Stuttgart. It was Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche, who happens to be the engineer created the first Volkswagen was the intellectual and spiritual “father” of Porsche. This brand of automobile has earned a reputation for producing vehicles that are reliable, dependable and good enough to be used for daily driving, not to mention its high performance. And because of this, some other car manufacturers such as Studebaker, Seat, Daewoo, and Subaru have had consulted Porsche on engineering for their cars.
Porsche has been triumphant in many branches of motor racing. The 356 SL that appeared at the famed Le Mans 24-hour endurance classic in 1951 who won the 1100cc category to begin a record of success and up to this day is among the car lovers favorite was the Porsche’s first official racing entry. The 356 SL cars were based on the hand built aluminum-bodied Gmund coupes constructed between 1948 and 1949. Many people regard the 356 as the first Porsche simply because it was the first model sold by the fledging company. But the first Porsche was the Porsche 64 that had used many components from the Volkswagen Beetle.
And in 1963, after a number of success in motor-racing, this German car manufacturer has launched the Porsche 911. Compared to any other model, the Porsche brand is defined by the 911. It has become their sought-after model because aside from its features similar to the 356, this time it comes with a 6-cylinder “boxer engine.” And after the 911, a Porsche 912 was followed in which its body was alike to the 911 but the running gear is derived from the 356.
The years followed was also a success for Porsche because they continuously participated in a lot of racing events and won many times.
