Toyota Starlet
Outstanding performance and standard equipments, that’s what every Toyota vehicle
is all about; providing the automotive market with high-grade vehicles complemented
with top quality parts. Toyota, like other automobile manufacturer, has gone into
several evolutionary phases to further serve their customers better and be able
to provide the market with much better automotive products. Within the entire
existence of Toyota in the automotive industry, the company has created and manufactured
thousands of vehicles in different models and platforms that never failed to amuse
the market especially Toyota enthusiasts. Among the performance vehicles ever
created by Toyota is the Toyota Starlet.
The Toyota Starlet was introduced by Toyota Motors in the automotive market in
the year 1973. This small automobile was initially launched as the 40 series and
was then offered in 1000 and 1200 cm3 engines. However, the 60 series following
the 40 series models became more popular as it was the first to be sold outside
Japan. The 60 series was a small three-door hatchback and was then offered in
1200 and 1300 cm3 engines. After the 60 series, the 70 series was launched in
the 80’s and in 1984, the model became a front-wheel drive; a five-door model
was also added to the lineup. On the other hand, the 80 series introduced in 1989
and 90 series introduced in 1996 still offered choices of three-door and five-door
hatchback models.
Just like any other Toyota vehicles, the Starlet came out of the market loaded
with enough powerful performance and luxurious features for safety and comforts.
You can always find something to like in this Toyota Starlet whether there are
some minor disadvantages about the vehicle; among them the price as Toyota name
commands high ones. The Starlet has been also regarded as a dull automobile but
is known for its dependability. A same car, as the Starlet, was also produced
exclusively for Japan called Sera was produced in the early 90’s; this car has
sports body and gull wing doors. The Starlet was replaced by the Toyota Vitz/Platz/Echo/Yaris
ranges of vehicles in 1999.
