Volvo 240 series
Every automaker
has their own principles and procedures in creating vehicles; but each
has one similar goal, to impress and please their target markets. Each
promising the best features and performance a vehicle has to offer in
the history of automotive industry. Among them is Volvo; an automaker
known for creating powerful commercial vehicles such as buses and
construction equipments. Literally, the word Volvo means “I Roll;” this
was used to described the company before as it was known to create ball
bearings for commercial applications. After many years of struggles and
pursuit of the company's endeavors, it has evolved into one successful
automotive manufacturer that it is today. To date, Volvo has already
manufactured thousands of vehicles including the Volvo 240 series.
Along with the 260 Series, Volvo 240 Series was introduced with six
different models in the year 1974. It featured a fresh front end when
the 240 series first appeared in the market and was fitted with an
up-to-the-minute B21 overhead cam engine. A 4-sylinder in-line OHV,
4-cylinder in-line OHC turbo, 4-cylinder in-line OHC intercooled turbo,
a V6 OHC and a 6-cylinder in-line OHC diesel engine were the available
engines for the Volvo 240 Series althroughout its existence in the
market. For the Volvo's transmissions, 4-speed manual, 4-speed manual
with electrical overdrive, 5-speed manual or 3 or 4 speed automatic
aptly pair the Volvo's engine specifications; depending on the model
year and the chassis you have. From 1974 to 1984, the Volvo 240 Series
was available in 4-door sedan and 2-door sedan body styles while 5-door
wagon and 2-door coupe Volvo 240 were available from 1977 to 1981.
Volvo's 240 Series, just like many of its outstanding models, exudes
unique Volvo appeal; including features and equipments for safety and
comforts. For safety, Volvo 240 Series includes anti-lock brakes and
airbags. This Volvo models has even been made to be the model to set
safety standards for all the cars in the United States. From the year
it was introduced, the Volvo 240 Series has got so many praises for all
the good features it has until for some reasons it was discontinued in
the year 1993.
